Hello and Welcome

Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm David Blakeman and I'm responsible for the photos (and videos) on this site. I'm a Photography major at Arizona State University and I specialize in documentary and portrait photography in the Phoenix-Metro area. I'm currently in process. I'm trying to figure out why I love art. I'm trying to figure out why I obsess of photography and, more recently, I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. This site exists to showcase everything I photograph. If you'd like me to take photos for you, feel free to e-mail me at david@blakemanphoto.com. While you're here, be sure to check out what I've been shooting lately, watch a video or two, download some hi-res photos, leave a few comments and even venture over to my SmugMug page if you'd like to order a print or two. You can also give my Facebook wall a visit or look just below for my Twitter feed. Thanks again for visiting my site.

Twitter: @carterdea No Farmville is enough for me to give it another chance. Also, I'd love your two (or in this case five) cents: http://j.mp/c6q5Cu

Another delicious Foodies shoot. These photos are from Foodies latest culinary extravaganza, the Iron-Chef-esque, first ever Foodie Fight. Two home chefs duked it out with two local, highly-acclaimed head chefs to show off their skills in the kitchen. Posh Improvisational Cuisine hosted this intense event.

First Fridays has changed! I’m not sure if Art Detour was responsible for the intense crowd this weekend, but there were a ton of people out. It’s always fun to go cruise around downtown Phoenix. It is a bit of a shame really. First Fridays is much more about the scene itself these days. The art has somehow taken a backseat. Anywho, here’s a few photos:

I went to a studio lighting demo at ASU’s Polytechnic campus this weekend. It was pretty dorky. I snapped a few:

I had to shoot four rolls of color film for my Color Photography class this week. I’m very fortunate to have friends like Savannah that are willing to cruise around the valley for a spur-of-the-moment photo shoot. Here’s a few digital shots from our shoot:

My roommate is freaking married!!! What the frick!?! I love James and Liz like you wouldn’t believe. They are both incredible, selfless, loving people and they absolutely belong together. ReneĆ© Bergmen and I happily documented their wedding day. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Foodies Like Us

February 23, 2010 | DOCUMENTARY | No Comments

Foodies Like Us recently hosted the Mojitos on the Mountain event at the Elements restaurant at the Sanctuary resort and spa on Camelback. I was incredibly fortunate to get plugged in with Foodies from the beginning. They’ve given me some really cool opportunities and they definitely spoil me. Here’s a few from the Mojito event:

You Lost Me at Cortez… you know them… you love them. Here’s a few photos from their 3rd show at the clubhouse:

Ron & Mandi are doing really great work for the cystic fibrosis community. They’ve been working on a social networking site called Cystic Life that has been a huge asset in connecting “fibros” and “cysters” all over the world. They’re an incredibly hilarious couple and I’ve been blown away by their sense of humor and relentless, selfless personalities. They’re amazing. Anyways, here’s a few photos from their engagement shoot in downtown Phoenix:
